If you are a Métis, First Nations, or Inuit student, we invite you to self-declare to help us support and better understand the needs of Indigenous students. Self-declaration is optional and voluntary. Self-declaration is not part of the verification process of the new deybwewin | taapwaywin | tapwewin I Policy which is a verification process of Indigenous citizenship/membership with documentation.

University staff who support Indigenous students' academic and personal success will use this information to develop, maintain, and deliver effective programs and services, and to communicate to Indigenous students. The information will also be used to help evaluate and report on our progress toward making the university more accessible to Indigenous Peoples and improving the Indigenous student experience.

We recognize the importance of protecting your privacy. Only university employees who have a direct role in supporting Indigenous students will have access to this information.

If you are applying to a program with dedicated seats for Indigenous students or Indigenous-specific scholarships or bursaries, you will be required to complete the deybwewin | taapwaywin | tapwewin verification process which will require you to provide documentation supporting your membership or citizenship in your Indigenous community.
